Suggestions for PuristSpro

Jan 19, 2015,20:24 PM

Friends,

I wanted to share a few quick suggestions for the PuristSPro website. Please add to the list, refine my ideas, and so on. Thanks!

(1) Create a "Suggestions Box" for users to log their ideas for site improvement. It could fit nicely in between "Support" and "Team PuristS". This would be a forum where threads like this one I'm writing now could be saved and added to and built on over time. I'm certain many people have suggestions on small ways the website might be improved, and the "Suggestions Box" would be a place to catalogue all these ideas (some of which would hopefully be implemented).

(2) Appoint a dedicated Moderator for Collectors Market. I believe that several mods currently split the responsibilities of maintaining order in the Collectors Market forum, but I think delineating a single moderator to take leadership would be very beneficial. The goal would be to increase the quality and legitimacy and of the listings / listers. While ultimately it is the individual buyer's duty to run due diligence on the seller, a dedicated mod for this forum could increase its soundness and quality. Personally, I believe the Collectors Market holds the most growth potential on this site, as there are so few good customer-to-customer avenues available and yet ever increasing demand to escape the customer-to-business model (where the customer always loses).

(3) Create a Research forum (or possibly add the word "Research" to the WatchTech forum). Some PurisT members do amazing research reports, but sadly they are often buried in popular forums and difficult to find. So for example, if there was a Research forum, posts like mstanga's Royal Oak 5402 Reference Guide would be easy to locate. These research reports take a tremendous amount of effort, and a Research forum would highlight their importance and value to our community. It would also, potentially, incentivize some other very experienced mods and contributors to write their own research reports, which would be amazing!

Cheers,
Matt

and even when I appreciate your thoughts in general - this is probably the wrong time to think about it. This is one of the busiest weeks, because of SIHH 2015. Sorry! Best, Oliver

Matt, thanks for the suggestions.

As Oliver noted, tough to focus on these right now, but the feedback is appreciated and will be reviewed. Best, CaliforniaJed

Thank you Matt for your feedback

We value your feedback and really appreciate your time to share this with us. To me, true PuristS and friends care enough to write feedback points to us and I really appreciate this personally. Btw, the cat pic is so cute :) Cheers robin

All great ideas and all very achievable.

Thank for taking the time to put your thought on paper and clearly. It is always easy to criticize but most people stop their. But it is much harder to offer ideas and solutions as you have. I do wonder though about an open forum for suggestions. I wonder...

Another idea - Job Market

Hello friends, I wonder if a "Job Market" tab would be interesting / worthwhile --- a forum where people could advertise watch-related, or other, career opportunities. We all share the same hobby by virtue of being on this site, but perhaps we share more ...

I like your thinking.

Why not consider that. It is almost like "industry insider". Gossip opportunities and more. Broader but could encompass other aspects like career etc. Bill
